More commonly known as NOS is a gas that was used for and is still being used as an anesthetic drug for medical purposes at room temperature it’s not fun but if you heat it up just right it becomes a beast for your vehicle engine.
What is NOS for cars?
It is a gas that is used mostly for automotive racing the larger the nitrous oxide gas tank you have installed in your car the longer it lasts and gives horsepowers.
Difference between wet and dry NITROUS
There are two types wet NOS and the dry NOS dry NOS just adds nitrous oxide gas into your intake manifold while the wet version adds gas and fuel concurrently to your engine.
How does NOS work in a car?
Our normal air contains 21% oxygen nitrous oxide gas increases that number with the help of burning fuel and thus increasing the amount of oxygen an engine has normally and therefore giving an instantaneous boost to the car because of the bigger and faster explosions in the pistons almost similar to how a supercharger works.
Is NOS compatible with a turbocharger?
Yes, it is in some circumstances it is ineffective as an already very powerful and tuned car but on stock or vehicles that are not heavily tuned it works wonders as people even use it to help turbochargers spool faster and decrease the time it takes it to charge. For more info on turbochargers
Are NOS tanks expensive?
They are slightly expensive but the nos tank starter kits start anywhere from 400 dollars to 1000+ compared to a turbocharger or a supercharger they are more affordable.
Is NOS legal in cars?
Depending on your state and city laws mostly for street use it is illegal but you can store it and use it in drag strips and tracks made for racing.
Will it damage my engine?
If the nos kit is installed properly it won’t be sure to check the compatibility of your vehicle if it can take a nitrous oxide tank it is a beginner-friendly mod but most people prefer getting it installed by a professional as this is the best choice if it’s not properly installed it can cause your pistons to explode basically your engine blows up but it’s a rare case of not installing the nos kits properly.
How fast does it make the car?
It adds an additional 50 to 100+ horsepower to your engine most V8 engines can handle the power but you might have to be careful with smaller engines such as a V4 it is preferred to use high octane gas and keep the NOS tank at the right temperate for optimal performance as the gas at colder temperature will not work properly wasting your gas it is recommended to use tank warmers to help maintain the temperature of your nos tank.
Is it safe?
You can adjust when your nos kit releases the gas you can set at a specific RPM to open the valve and boost and after reaching a higher RPM it closes as per your settings.
